A summary of the basic properties of the production and transport of anomalous cosmic rays (ACRs) in the outer heliosphere is presented: Acceleration by the solar wind termination shock (SWTS) determines the energies where the modulated ACR peak intensities occur, including the species scaling of the peak energies. ACR spectra at the SWTS are modified by particle drifts, either hardening or softening the spectra, depending on the latitude and heliospheric magnetic field polarity. Inside the shock, ACRs are modulated in the same way as galactic cosmic rays (GCRs), except that ionization of ACRs by solar wind protons determine the relative abundances of the different ionization states of an ACR species.
