ACE Weekly 09/12/03 - 09/18/03

All ACE spacecraft subsystems are performing nominally. An attitude
maneuver was successfully executed on 09/16/03. The next attitude maneuver
is scheduled for 09/24/03.

Orbit Events:

ACE is currently in SEV transit through 09/23/03. Expected minimum SEV
angle will be 1.76 degrees.
The essential timeline based on a 30-min step scan for this 22 day, 8.5
hour event is:

- SEZ entry (4.75 deg inbound) on Sept. 1 at 0100Z
- Minimum Sun-Earth-ACE angle = 1.760 deg on Sept. 12 at 0800Z
- SEZ exit (4.75 deg outbound) on Sept. 23 at 0930Z

No problems have been encountered thus far during this transit.

Ongoing Activities:

TAPS:
Trending, Analysis and Plotting System (TAPS) development continues with
emphasis being placed on fixing the DRs attributed to prior releases.
Release 4.1.7 was successfully installed on 09/09/03. The Final release
(4.1.8) is tentatively scheduled for 09/26/03.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Automation (ROBOTT):
- Offline testing has been suspended on String 2 because primary operations
was moved to this string in order to install ROBOTT Version 0.2 on String 1.
- ROBOTT version 0.2 was successfully installed on String 1 and FOT testing
will commence this week.
- Automation Team testing of HSM and Command & Control on String 3
continues. C&C is shadowing passes and an expected delivery date to the FOT
is 09/22/03.
- The first draft of the SUG is expected to completed 10/01/03.

Anomalies:

DOY 03255 (09/12/2003) ACE Anomaly G03-0084 - JPL Special Function Gateway
(SFG) Problems
During command validation with DSS-54, FOT did not receive a command echo
from DSS-54. DSS-54 put telemetry online but it was not received at the
MOC. DSS-54 informed FOT that everything looked nominal on their end and
telemetry is leaving the station. Contacted JPL Comm, they reported that
they were receiving telemetry from station. JPL Comm swapped the SFG- no
change in status. FOT contacted IPNOC and they are investigating the
situation. Similar problems were experienced by Chandra & WIND/POLAR due
to the SFG (located at JPL Comm). IMPACT: Delayed AOS for 1 hr 36
min. Pass activities delayed and incomplete. All data was subsequently
acquired during later passes. TT# NOC 000 8969

DOY 03259 (9/16/2003) ACE Anomaly G03-0085 - MAD (DSS-66) Oil Leak in
Y-Axis of Antenna - Station RED
DSS-66 declared RED for support (attitude maneuver). DSS-66 was unable to
provide support due to a oil leak in the Y-Axis of the antenna. DSS-27
provided coverage for the pass, which was only shortened by 15 minutes.
IMPACT: None. All planned activities accomplished successfully. DR#M101887
