ACE Weekly 01/09/2008 - 01/15/2008

All ACE spacecraft subsystems are performing nominally.

============================================================================
Orbit/Attitude:

No maneuvers were completed this week. The next attitude maneuver and
Station-Keeping #46 are scheduled for Thursday, 01/17/2008.

============================================================================
OCRs:

None

============================================================================
Activities:

The risk of data loss has increased for the December-January time frame. If
there are problems with the passes, it may not be possible to
acquire additional DSN time. Refer to 12/25/2007 weekly for further
information.

Anomalies:

DOY 010 (01/10/2008) S-ACE-0264 (G08-0004) - TAPS Configuration/Disk Drives
TAPS was not configured correctly for storing data starting with 2008. The
2008 data was saved to a disk drive with insufficient space. The TAPS
configuration was corrected and the data restored.
IMPACT: Minimal. Note, ACE generates a little over 30GB of data per year.
The TAPS trending system has stored 320GB of data and has 130GB of free
space left. Additional hard drives will be required after 2011.

DOY 011 (01/11/2008) S-ACE-0265 (G08-0005) - DSS-46 Network Loss/SLE Bind
After a brief network outage, the SLE F-CLTU connection had a "Protocol
Abort". The station indicated Unbound (DSN Monitor Data M-1031) and the ACE
MOC attempted to rebind. The Bind attempts were not successful and the
station was notified. The station set the TCP Production Status to "halt"
and then back to "operate". The ACE MOC successfully binded and commanding
was successful.  DR#C106117
IMPACT: If the station had not toggled the Production Status, then no
commands would have reached the station for the remainder of the support.

DOY 015 (01/15/2008) S-ACE-0266 (G08-0006) - DSS-27 Pass Lost
The station's Antenna Pointing Controller/PLC processor failed. Station
reported that there are no repair parts available. DR#G108285
IMPACT: Pass lost for DOY 015 2008. No clock calibration DOY 015 & DOY
016. No attitude/orbit report DOY 015. SSR Failover expected at around
2008-016-15:25:00 (32 second gap). SSR playback is behind schedule; if
there are any additional problems it is very likely that data will be lost.
