ACE Weekly 10/22/2008 - 10/28/2008

All ACE spacecraft subsystems are performing nominally.

Orbit/Attitude:

No maneuvers were performed this week. The next attitude maneuver is
scheduled for Friday 10/31/2008.

Activities:

Data Capture: 100% DOY 293-300 2008

The risk of data loss has again increased for the October-February time
frame. Several missions are competing for the same antenna time (daylight
hours). If there are problems with the passes, it may not be possible to
acquire additional DSN time. For more information refer to 10/14/2008
weekly.

New requirements on FDF ephemeris generation will need to be negotiated.
DSN implemented SPSv1.2 on 10/9/2008. The new SPS requires a 26-week
scheduling grade ephemeris for viewperiod generation. This will be in
addition to the 12-week predict grade ephemeris that is currently delivered.

An additional requirement (new this week) is for the FDF scheduling grade
ephemeris to include 25 hours of prior data.

Anomalies:

DOY 295 10/21/2008 S-ACE-0366 G08-0101 DSS-46 SLE Bind Broken
The MOC automation software, ROBOTT, prematurely terminated the SSR redump
procedure (s_ops_plbk_complete.prc). ROBOTT did not see that the previous
procedure had completed and terminated all procedures. This is a known
issue (CDSID#21122) which last occurred on 08/29/2008 (AR#G08-0085).
IMPACT: Minimal. No redumps were required.

DOY 297 10/23/2008 S-ACE-0367 G08-0102 DSS-46 SLE Bind Broken
At Beginning Of Track (BOT), the first command (TIME_BIN_LOAD) was not
transmitted to the spacecraft and FCLTU Bind was broken. The ACE MOC SLE
software successfully rebinded, but the bind was broken for each subsequent
command retransmission. The FOT requested that DSS-46 switch the uplink
system from Operate to Halt and back to Operate. The first command was
successful transmitted after 5 minutes. DR#C106594. This is the same
problem that occurred last week (DOY 289 DSS-46 DR#C106578).
IMPACT: Manual intervention required. Activities delayed 15 minutes
(includes 8 minute TLM delay).

DOY 302 10/28/2008 S-ACE-0368 G08-0103 DSS-27 Network Problems
The Enhanced Reliable Network Server (ERNS) went offline temporarily.
DR#G108956.
IMPACT: Minimal. 4 minute telemetry outage.
