ACE Weekly 09/23/2009 - 09/29/2009

All ACE spacecraft subsystems are performing nominally.

Tracking/range data after SK-52 is more limited than in the past. For 7
days after the maneuver, there is only 1 ranging pass per day and no
southern hemisphere ranging.

The next attitude maneuver is scheduled for Friday 10/16/2009.

OCRs:

DOY 265 (09/22/2009) GND-199 Replace McAfee VirusScan with Symantec
McAfee VirusScan was removed from the Windows PCs in the MOC due to
license expiration. Symantec AntiVirus was installed on Windows PCs on
09/22/2009. Symantec is available for Linux and is scheduled for
install on 09/30/2009.

Activities:

Data Capture: 100% DOY 263-270 2009

DSN availability will improve in the coming week. DSS-24 will be
available starting on 09/28/2009 although painting will continue during
the antenna's daylight hours until 10/6/2009. DSS-54 will be available
starting on 10/1/2009 although ACQ AID INSTALL will continue during the
antenna's daylight hours until 10/4/2009. LCROSS lunar impact is
scheduled for 10/9/2009.

Data capture for the past month has been surprisingly good given the
limited DSN availability. There were only 3 gaps in the playback data
(31 seconds, 31 seconds and 24 seconds). Similar limited DSN
availability can result in hours of data loss (6 minutes of DSN time = 1
hour of playback data).

Anomalies:

DOY 266 09/23/2009 S-ACE-0461 G09-0052 MOC Automation PostPass
The MOC automation software (ROBOTT) did not start post pass cleanup
after the pass on DOY 266. The reasons are not known.
Impact: Minimal. The system is designed to not have problems when this
occurs. There are several known scenarios where ROBOTT does not run
postpass cleanup activities. This day, however, did not fit any of
those scenarios.
