ACE Weekly 01/18/2011 - 01/24/2011 All ACE spacecraft subsystems are performing nominally. ======================================================================== Orbit/Attitude: Type Attitude Date 01/21/2011 DOY 021 2011 Thrusters 2R 4R+ 4R- Duration 15:07 min Start 13:55:38z Stop 14:10:45z HGAStart -7.85deg HGAStop +7.61deg SunStart 4.99deg SunStop 16.81deg SpinStart 5.0719rpm SpinStop 5.0752rpm Nutation 0.16deg Firing 77 pulses FuelUsed 0.2411lbs FuelRemain 131.1264lbs FinalSCMass 1365.387lbs The next attitude maneuver is scheduled for Monday 02/07/2011. ======================================================================= OCRs: None ======================================================================== Activities: Data Capture: 100% DOY 016-023 2011 The risk of data loss has returned to normal. The viewperiod from northern hemisphere antennas has been increasing since mid-December and is now 9 hours each day. Five of the 7 DSN antennas that ACE uses are in the northern hemisphere. The overlap with the Mars missions, however, will continue through March 2011. Winter data loss in recent years Dec 2006-Jan 2007 4.2 hours Dec 2007-Jan 2008 1.9 hours Dec 2008-Jan 2009 0.0 hours Dec 2009-Jan 2010 0.0 hours Dec 2010-Jan 2011 1.5 hours Note that the limited data loss is the result of finding DSN time when problems occur and luck. Data loss can easily be much higher. ======================================================================== Anomalies: DOY 018 01/18/2011 S-ACE-0579 G11-0007 ITOS tm_controller Before Beginning Of Track, ITOS had problems connecting telemetry, "timeout reading from tm_controller". ITOS was stopped and restarted. IMPACT: Manual intervention required. Activities delayed 90 minutes. No impact to NOAA Space Weather Prediction Center (SWPC). The spacecraft was in RTSW format during this time. DOY 021 01/21/2011 S-ACE-0580 G11-0008 DSN DCD Failure ACE telemetry stopped flowing to the MMOC at 15:11:31z due to failures of both DSN DCD systems (Data Capture and Delivery). Telemetry returned at 16:00:39z, but SLE system provided back-logged data starting at 15:49:39z (the previous 20 minutes). DR#N107037 IMPACT: 49 minute telemetry outage; 20 minutes of which was delivered after the return of the DCD system. The data outage also impacted NOAA SWPC. DOY 023 01/23/2010 S-ACE-0581 G11-0009 ITOS tm_controller Before Beginning Of Track, ITOS had problems connecting telemetry, "timeout reading from tm_controller". ITOS was stopped and restarted. IMPACT: Manual intervention required. Activities delayed 13 minutes. No impact to NOAA SWPC, spacecraft was in RTSW format. DOY 024 01/24/2010 S-ACE-0582 G11-0010 ITOS tm_controller & problems Before Beginning Of Track, ITOS had problems connecting telemetry, "timeout reading from tm_controller". ITOS was stopped and restarted. When ITOS was restarted, no telemetry was being received via SLE/MUS. The additional problems had not been seen before, but were resolved with a second restart of ITOS. IMPACT: Manual intervention required. Activities delayed 38 minutes. No impact to NOAA SWPC, spacecraft was in RTSW format.
