Detailed Program

Welcome Reception :

The reception is on Tuesday January 4th from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm and will include hors d'ouevres with a no-host bar.

Scientific Program :

Regular sessions of the Symposium will extend from 8:30 on the morning of Wednesday January 5 to noon on Saturday, January 8. These sessions will address the acceleration and transport of four particle components:

Each of these topics will be addressed by a series of invited talks, by selected contributed talks, and by the poster session. Open discussion sessions are planned to highlight selected topical issues. Invited talks will be ~20 minutes long, and the selected contributed talks will last ~10 minutes.

The audio/visual setup for talks will consist of: 2 screens and 2 overhead projectors. If a requirement for something different is needed please contact Alan Cummings.

A list of the confirmed invited speakers and a brief description of their topic appears below.

Poster Session :

Poster setup will take place Tuesday evening and/or Wednesday morning before the General Session.
The poster size is: 4' x 4' (122 cm x 122 cm).

The poster session on Wednesday January 5th from 5:30 pm to 7:30 pm will include drinks and appetizers.

Poster papers are invited on both experimental and theoretical studies relating to the acceleration and transport of solar and interplanetary energetic particles, and anomalous and galactic cosmic rays. A selected sample of the poster papers will be invited to deliver ~10 minute oral presentations in order to round out the program. Due to space limitations, each attendee is limited to one contributed poster; which can be submitted for inclusion in the published conference proceedings. Posters may remain up through Thursday evening, January 6.

Banquet :

The banquet will be held on Friday January 7th beginning at TBD. The cost of the banquet will be $45/person and is not included in the symposium registration.

The Banquet will include:

Miscellaneous :

No email terminals or web connections will be provided by the Symposium.

Invited Speakers :

It is expected that the invited talks will be ~20 minutes in length, followed by 10 minutes for questions and discussion. All invited speakers are expected to submit written versions of their talks to the conference proceedings, which will be published by the AIP.
